The Dolly Steamboat carries on the tradition of Tour Boats on Arizona's Desert Lakes that started in 1925 upon completion of Mormon Flat Dam. George Moody launched the "Geronimo" and started lake tours labeled "The Boat Trip Unique-The Junior Grand Canyon Tour. Over the succeeding years, the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service included Canyon Lake in the Tonto National Forest. Eventually, the Forest Service permitted the development of a Marina, Restaurant and Campground on a 28 acre site alongside Hwy.88, The Apache Trail. Paul "PK" Kennedy and Dolly bought the Marina and Campground and their family began to develop the facility. PK's dream of building an old fashioned riverboat then emerged and a 48 passenger double decked sternwheeler was soon sailing as an attraction that encouraged year 'round visitors.

Canyon Lake Accessibility:

There are many facilities at the lake, hilly but with many nice areas to fish from shore. This lake is well worth the trip if you live in Tucson or Southern Arizona. We enjoy this lake best for an entire weekend because it is so big

The area is rugged , may need assistance.
